Capsule Geology

The Ginny showing occurs in an area underlain by andesitic volcanics of the Lower Jurassic Hazelton Group, near the contact with marine sedimentary and volcanic rocks of the Upper Triassic Stuhini Group.

The Rusty Creek showing on the Ginny claim is a massive to disseminated pyrite showing in argillite rocks interbedded with massive rhyolite flows and coarse pyroclastics. Rock sampling in 1989 has returned values up to 4.46 grams per tonne gold along with strongly anomalous zinc, silver and arsenic values (Assessment Report 19750). Stream sediment sampling indicates further anomalous values upstream of the showing. Soil geochemistry, ground magnetic and VLF-EM surveys suggest the target consists of more than one mineralized horizon, each of which appear to conform to bedding and are open along strike.

Work History

Early exploration known to have been done in the area of the Ginny consisted of reconnaissance geological mapping and prospecting carried out by Newmont Mines Ltd. between 1952 and 1962.

A 621-kilometre airborne electromagnetic and magnetic survey was flown from December 1988 to January 1989 on behalf of Winslow Gold Corporation (Assessment Report 18585). The survey area, comprised three blocks of ground, part of which included the Ginny 3 and 4 claims.

In 1987, Axiom Gold collected 111 rock and 78 silt on its Candorada Stewart property, part of which included the Ginny 1 to 4 claims (Assessment Report 18585). Twelve silt samples were collected from the Ginny property.

In 1989, Rocky Mountain Energy Corp, collected 37 heavy mineral and 50 stream silt samples along with 841 soil samples from 31.1 kilometres of contour soil lines and 12.2 kilometres of flagged line on 3 separate grids. Creeks, contour lines and grid lines were prospected and geologically mapped at 15,000 scale. The Mid, East and Bar Fly grids were mapped at 1:2,500, 1:1000 and 1:500 scales respectively. The Rusty Creek showing on the East grid was mapped at 1:100 scale. In conjunction with the prospecting 135 rock samples were collected from the property. VLF-EM and ground magnetometer surveys were carried out over 3.3 kilometres of flagged grid line on the East grid and 1.65 kilometres on the Bar Fly. Overburden trenching and blasting were conducted at one site on the East grid and one site on the Bar Fly grid.

In 2020, Eskay Mining Corp. completed a program of prospecting, rock sampling, ground and airborne geophysical surveys and 4335 metres of diamond drilling in 20 holes on the area as part of the Sib-Corey-North Mitchell property. The geophysical surveys consisted of a 911.7 line-kilometre airborne electromagnetic survey, a 55.85 line-kilometre induced polarization survey and a 43.19 line-kilometre magnetotelluric survey. Drilling was performed on the TV (MINFILE 104B 385) and Jeff (MINFILE 104B 525) occurrences.
